Rainy Sunday
Feb 21st, 2010 by Arkmulebarn
At least it isn’t snowing.
I can’t really complain; our weather has been quite nice this past week.
Yesterday, after I left work to run across town to get my hair cut, I noticed a few clouds blowing across the clear blue sky… I remembered the weather folks warning me that we were in for some serious RAIN this weekend.
They were right. It arrived around midnight, making itself known by that patter on my roof.
Like many folks, I’m really looking forward to Spring. Heck, at this point, I’m looking forward to Summer, and around here that means HEAT, Humidity and basic misery outside.
On another note, I’m watching bits and pieces of the Olympics. What is with NBC anyway? A guaranteed ratings win is over processed, pasteurized and made into something that most folks will avoid because of the way it is presented.
Now, IMNSHO, after the Leno/Conan nonsense if I were running the network, I’d be fighting to find reasons for viewers to tune in, instead of annoying them so they don’t seek out my programming.
Which probably explains why I don’t run the network.
On another topic, one of the film blogs I frequent posted part of a news conference with Johnny Depp wherein he spoke about the upcoming filming of POTC 4. Question asked of the readers: Are you worried about the news about the film?
Um, no more than I was when Disney announced it was once again going to attempt to (cough) entertain its audience with this franchise. The change in director, addition (maybe) of Penelope Cruz, and the sparse casting notices haven’t helped me feel positive about this film. Frankly, I wish everyone had just packed it up and put it in the attic and walked away.
Johnny, I hate to tell you, but you and the rest of the group have your work cut out for you. It will take a Lot to erase the bad taste in my mouth the last two epics in the series left behind. And I’m not the only fan of POTC-COTBP to feel this way.
And for those folks who argue that those films made a lot of money; Money earned at the box office does not equal good film. It means a lot of people spent a lot of money in the vain hope that they might actually see something different than the first X number of times they saw the film. Providing, of course, they were actually watching the film in the first place.
I’ve seen a lot of movies in the theaters, but POTC 2 and 3 were the first films I ever saw where the audience (made up of all age ranges) was DEAD QUIET instead of laughing, cheering or involved in the story.
Enough said.
I’ve jumped into Book 2 of the Coyle Coffee house series. I’m really enjoying the series – and my coffee consumption has increased too.
Which may, or may not, be a good thing.
Here’s hoping you have a great week!
